Supplies :
Coating:
- For top and bottom: 2 rectangles of 24 cm x 20 cm
- Back square: 15 cm x 17 cm
- Vanity body: one 66 cm x 5 cm rectangle
one 66 cm x 12 cm rectangle
- Handle: 24 cm x 8 cm rectangle
Same dimensions for the lining (I used a thick canvas), and for the tri-fold (I used the same canvas as for the lining). (except for the handle: no lining, no tri-fold).
Zipper: 65 cm
Piping: approx. 80 cm
Steps :
1. Assemble all linings and tri-folds, making a straight stitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
2. Assemble the coating and the top and bottom vanity linings/tri-folds (24 cm x 20 cm rectangles), with the reverse side of the coating against the tri-fold:
3. Handle:
Fold the 24 cm x 8 cm rectangle of coating in 2, make 1 cm indentations on the sides and stitch.
Center the resulting handle on the top of the vanity (tucking in the edges) and stitch. (I chose to sew the handle to the coating joined to the lining/triply for greater strength).
Reinforce with a cross seam.
4. Attach the zipper to the 66 cm x 5 cm and 66 cm x 12 cm rectangles:
Sew the zipper in place between the coating and the lining ( 66 cm x 12 cm) right sides together, using the special zipper foot.
Topstitch.
Repeat with the 66 cm x 5 cm rectangles on the other side of the zipper.
5. Assembling the back square :
Assemble the part obtained in step 4 to the 15 cm x 17 cm squares, right sides together, in this order: lining (/ tri-lining) / part obtained in step 4 / coating. Stitch (at the red line).
Turn over and topstitch.
Fold in 2 right sides together (as shown) and stitch at the red line:
Turn inside out, topstitch all layers, tucking in at the lining.
The result is :
6. Position the piping on the top and bottom of the vanity using the zip foot, piping bead inwards: stitch over the piping seam. stitch on the piping seam.
7. Assemble the underside and body of the vanity, right sides together, rounding off at the corners, stitching on the seam from which the piping was applied. stitching over the piping seam:
Cut the corners following the rounding:
Proceed in the same way for the top of the vanity, remembering to leave the zipper open so that you can turn it over later. so that you can turn it over later.
8. Bias exposed seams:
9. Go back, it's over!
