For the back-to-school season, I'm offering you a fashion DIY first: a maxi bag to take everything everywhere. After thinking only about our children this back-to-school season, it's time to think a little about ourselves too!
I'm a sucker for big bags, especially in autumn, as I'm a great chiller and can't resist taking an extra cardigan or scarf, just in case ;-)
We'll need
- imitation leather fabric (like skai)
- leather belt
- rivets
- thread
Fold your fabric in 2, right sides together and trace the following pattern, then cut.
Cut two rectangles to make the pockets: a 17x24 cm rectangle for the outside and a 17x30 cm rectangle for the inside of the bag.
Place the pockets in the middle of your cut fabric and machine-stitch. For the inside pocket, I make an additional stitch in the middle of the pocket, so as to have two compartments. Order above all...
I then stitch the edges (pink dotted lines).
Then I open the bottom to obtain a straight line, place it edge to edge with the one below, and stitch.
All that remains is to add the handles. I cut my belt into 2 pieces of 45 cm. Using a punch, I make 2 holes at each end. I take one side of my bag and place my handle on it as a reference, to have the same spacing, I drill holes. To get a nice fall, the handles are attached to the ends of the face.
I set my rivets according to the instructions.
And there you have it!
Ideal for everyday use, what do you think?
