How to sew a heart pouch. Pattern & Tutorial
MATERIALS
1x 7″ 12,5″ piece of laminated cotton
1 zipper 10″ long
8″ satin ribbon, 1/8 inch wide
Marking pencil
Print the pattern and cut it out. I recommend printing it on card stock for easy tracing.
Draw around the three pattern pieces with a marking pencil as shown.
Cut out front and backside pieces of the pouch.
Line up and pin the edge of the front top piece wrong side up and the edge of the zipper as shown, with the zipper pull at the left.
Sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance using a zipper foot.
Your seam should look like this:
Fold the front top piece over and topstitch fairly close to the seam, using a standard foot .
Position the front bottom piece exactly and repeat the above steps to attach it to the zipper.
Your pouch front should look like this:
Place the back piece of the pouch on the front and pin in place.
Flip the pouch over and slide the zipper pull to the middle to create the turning hole. Place another two pins near the zipper.
Sew together using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Important: sew back and forth across the zipper a few times to stabilize it.
Trim the pouch fairly close to the stitch line.
Open up the zipper completey…
turn the pouch inside out…
and tie a satin ribbon to the puller…
