All you need are 2 fat quarters and 2 zippers to make them. I promise the zipper part is NOT scary. You will use a zipper that is a bit longer than necessary making this whole process a snap. Go! Get to that sewing machine and make a couple cute pouches.
Materials:
•sewing machine
•cutting mat
•ruler
•scissors/rotary cutter (optional)
•straight pins
•fabric (2 coordinating fat quarters)
•interfacing (20 X 22 inches)
•two 9 inch plastic zippers (NO METAL ZIPPERS!)
•6 inches of ribbon, 1 inch wide
•18 inches of ribbon, 1/4 inch wide
•2 beads (optional)
•labels (optional)
•iron and ironing board
1) Iron interfacing to outside fabric.
2) Cut 4 lining pieces 8.5 inches wide x 8 inches high. Round the bottom corners.
Cut 4 exterior pieces 8.5 inches wide x 8 inches high. Round the bottom corners.
3) Open zipper and place upper edge face down on on top edge of one of the exterior piece.
4) Place of the lining pieces face down on zipper, lining up top and sides.
5) Pin in place through all 3 layers (lining, zip, exterior).
6) Using a zipper foot, sew pinned area.
7) Sew to end of fabric.
8) It will look like this.
9) Press the front and back away from the zipper.
10) To look like this.
11) Line up the other exterior and lining with the top of the other half of the zipper.
12) Pin in place.
13) Sew other side of zipper in place.
14) To look like this.15) Press other side away from zipper too.

18) Pin one of the pieces of 1 inch wide ribbon one inch below zip pull.
19) Open zipper to 2 inches from end.
20) Turn so exterior and lining pieces are facing.
21) Pin around the outside. Make sure the zipper seams FACE the lining pieces. Pin them in this direction.
22) Sew around whole pouch leaving the gap in lining open.
23) Sew carefully over zippers.
24) The pouch will look like this.
25) Clip off excess zipper off both sides.
26) Use a pinking shears to trim excess from pouch.
27) To look like this.28) Pull outside through opening in lining.
29) Like this.30) Open the zipper all the way to turn bag. Use fingers or a chop stick to push corners out.
31) Press lining.
31) Pin opening closed.32) Sew opening closed using a 1/8 inch seam allowance.
33) Push lining into pouch.
34) Press pouch.
35) Add tag, ribbon and bead if desired. All done! So cute. Enjoy.
