Here's my Double Oven Glove Sewing Tutorial... I incorporated 272 Thermolam fleece insulated wadding from Vlieselene so they not only look great but are super practical as well.

You will need...

    ornament bird fabric in pastel violet
    272 thermolam fleece
    243 cm Bias binding (200 cm for outer binding, 1 x 9cm for loop, 2 x 17cm for mitts)
    Double Oven Glove Pattern

How-to step by step

Step 1

Start by downloading the mitt pattern. Using a water soluble marker, transfer the pattern four times on to the fabric. Draw round one mitt pattern, using a tape measure place the pattern piece 89cm away and draw round the mitt pattern. Repeat to get the inner and outer long oven glove pieces.

Step 2

Using a water soluble marker transfer the mitt pattern twice onto the wadding and repeat as above to get one long oven glove piece.

Step 3

For one mitt, sandwich a piece of wadding between a outer piece and a lining piece, with the right side of the fabric pieces facing outward. Pin the layers together.

Step 4

Using a 5mm seam allowance baste stitch the pieces together. Repeat for the second mitt.

Step 5

Pin the binding to the straight edge of the mitt.

Step 6

Using the fold in the binding as a guide, stitch the binding in place.

Step 7

Fold the binding over to the outer side and pin in place.

Step 8

Top stitch binding in place, backstitching at the start and finish.

Step 9

Sandwich the long piece of wadding between the long outer piece and the long lining piece, with the right side of the fabric pieces facing outward. Pin the layers together.

Step 10

Using a 5mm seam allowance baste stitch the pieces together.

Step 11

Pin a mitt, right side up, at each end of the long piece.

Step 12

Pin in place to secure.

Step 13

Using a 5mm seam allowance baste stitch the pieces together. Then zig zag round the edges.

Step 14

Make the small length of bias binding into a hanging loop and attach it to the centre of one long edge. Fold over the end of the bias binding and pin the binding to the outside edge of the oven gloves.
