How-to step by step
Step 1
Following the manufacturer's instructions, iron interfacing to the wrong side of each of the five print-fabric rectangles. Lay out the four side panels on your work surface,( one side, front, remaining side, back) right side up, with the prints facing the same direction. Pin two adjacent rectangles together at the side edges, with right sides together and raw edges even.
Step 2
Stitch a 1cm seam, starting at the top edge and finishing 1cm from the bottom edge. Repeat to join the other side edges, forming the sides of your drawer.
Step 3
Press the seams open.
Step 4
Pin the remaining print-fabric rectangle to the bottom edges of the other four, with right sides together, raw edges even, and corners matching. Stitch a 1cm seam around all four edges, pivoting the fabric at the corners. (The unstitched portions at the ends of the seams will open up to allow you to do this.) Press the seam open.
Step 5
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the lining.
Step 6
With the print-fabric cube right side out and the lining cube wrong side out, place the lining inside the print-fabric cube, so they are wrong sides together. Check that the seams are lined up, then pin in place. Machine baste stitch the lining and print-fabric together around al four sides 5mm from the top edge.
Step 7
Open out one side of the bias tape and turn in 5mm at the starting end. Pin the right side of the tape to the front of the fabric, the tape seam line aligning with the fabric seam line. Lap over the turned in starting end without turning in the finishing end. Stitch along the seam line.
Step 8
Flip the bias tape up and press it away from the seam line. Now take it over the raw edge to the inside of the fabric drawer and pin the other folded edge of the tape to the inside so that it just covers the stitching. Topstitch the tape in place from the front, making sure the stitching goes through the folded edge of the tape on the back.
Step 9
Using the eyelet pliers with the correct attachments in place punch out two small holes.
Step 10
Insert the eyelets into the holes and using the eyelet pliers affix in place.
Step 11
Thread the strip of ribbon through the eyelets and knot the ends to secure in place.
