You need

    whole city not
    Approx. 50 cm PVC
oilcloth or regular tissue weight cotton fabric
Approx. 120 cm bias tape (depending on the fabric circumference)
    Sewing machine
    Sewing utensils
    Tape measure

Measurements

Measure your sewing machine - add an extra 2-3 cm.

Check the depth of the machine - mine was 20 cm. Also, note plugsthat will remain under the hood.

Check the height of the machine. Mine was 33 cm.

And the width of the machine. Mine was 40 cm.

Cut

Cut the two side panels and add 1 cm to the width, for the seam allowance, and another 1 cm for the height.

My two parts had the dimensions of 40 + 1 = 41 cm wide x 33 + 1 = 34 cm high.

Cut out the strip panel, measuring: height + width + height of your machine x depth of your machine. Mine measured (33 + 40 + 33 =) 106 cm x 20 cm.

Lay On Top

Position the long strip of fabric the right side up and add one side panel, with the right side on top. This will cover the side of the machine (usually the shorter side). Lay the panel, flush, with the top edge of the long strip of fabric.

Sew Together

Sew near the upper edge firmly, up to 5 mm, before getting to the end, and cut the corner next to the needle.

Turn Over and Keep Sewing

Turn the sewn pieces over, so you can sew the next line on the side of the long strip of cloth. Leave 5 mm from the end towards the corner again, and cut next to the needle, sewing the final piece.

Cut the Edges

The sewn pieces should look like the one in the picture. Be sure tocut off the excess pieces of fabric.

Sew the Other Side

Now position the second corresponding part on the opposite side, and sew it in place.

Cut the Tape

You'll now need to "fine-tune":

Measure the lower open edge (mine was just under 117 cm) and cut a piece of bias tape, approximately 3 cm longer.

Sew the Tape

Position the folded bias tape to the bottom edge and sew it on.

Cut off the excess bias tape, but leave an even overlap of around 2 cm. Now fold 1 cm of the 2 cm bias tape, and position it again around the lower edge of the cover, sewing it together for a clean finish.

Have fun!
