DIY Easy & Simple Pouch

DIY Easy & Simple Pouch

Today I'm going to show you how you can easily sew a tiny little tampon bag yourself. You can use this principle to sew tampon pouches, diaper bags and odds and ends bags - simply adjust the size of the cut parts.

1) Cutting

First cut the pattern pieces to size:

Back: 9 cm wide x 13 cm long
                               1 x from outer fabric
                               1 x from inner fabric

Front part: 9 cm wide x 8 cm long
                               1 x from outer fabric
                               1 x from inner fabric

Loop: 1 strip in fabric of your choice
                              5 cm wide x 10 cm long

Fleece for reinforcement (H 640):      1 piece 7 cm wide x 11 cm long
                                                                      1 piece 7 cm wide x 6 cm long

you will also need some Velcro tape or a press stud to close it.

2) Preparing the pattern pieces

Iron the outer parts with the fleece and leave to cool

3) Make a loop

Fold the narrow strip for the loop over the long side fold once and iron, then unfold again

Now fold one long side to the crease in the middle and iron.

Now fold the other long side to the center and iron.

Now fold the whole piece back together at the first crease. It will look like this:...see photo
On one long side is the closed folded edge, the other long side is open.

Now topstitch both sides close to the edge to close the open side. (By the way, this is also a great way to make wrap bracelets!
make! ) Now the loop is finished.

4) Front section

Place the two small pieces of fabric for the front piece made of outer and inner fabric right sides together and topstitch at the top edge approx. 0.5 cm wide. (you can also say “half a foot wide”)

Press the seam well and then fold over so that the right sides (i.e. the pretty sides) are on the outside.

Topstitch once close to the edge on the upper (closed) side.

If you want to attach a Velcro fastener, you should do this now. 2 cm from the top edge in the middle of the piece of fabric, attach the Velcro fastener. 4 cm long piece of Velcro tape, take the side with the barbs and sew just around it.

5) The back piece

Take the back piece made from the inner fabric and measure 1.5 cm from the top edge, where you attach the counterpart of the Velcro fastener (the fluffy one) in the middle. Simply attach it with a small line of glue and then sew all the way around.

6) Finishing

Now lay the back piece made from the inner fabric on the table in front of you with the right side facing up.
Place the finished front piece you made earlier on top.

Now place the loop on the right or left side, depending on your preference, and fasten it by hand with a few stitches. (So that nothing slips when sewing!)

Now place the back piece made of outer fabric on this “stack” with the wrong side facing up.

The stack should then look like this:

Here are the fabric layers again:
1) Back piece made of inner fabric - nice side up
2) Finished front piece - pretty side up
3) Back made from outer fabric - pretty side down

Now pin everything together well and sew about 0.5 cm from the edge (half a foot wide).
Leave a turning opening of approx. 4-5 cm at the top.

Now cut back the corners.

Turn the whole bag through the opening and carefully shape it (works well with a chopstick)
Close the turning opening with a few stitches by hand or
topstitch the flap all the way around, then the turning opening is closed at the same time.
opening is closed at the same time)))

If you want, you can topstitch the closure flap and if you don't want to, don't, but you should close the turning opening.

Your first self-sewn bag is finished. It wasn't difficult at all, was it? I hope the instructions are easy to understand and you had some fun. You can use these instructions to make bags in all other formats and with other closures and, and, and.
There are no limits to your imagination.
