A reversible fabric basket - DIY. Today I offer you a diy to create a fabric storage basket quite easily!
I'd had this idea in mind for a while, and thanks to a friend who first showed me how to do it, I've become a fabric basket pro! Well, that's all well and good, but how do you make it?
First of all, you need :
2 different fabrics
a sewing machine
pins
an iron
First cut 2 different 50 cm x 25 cm pieces of fabric (1). Then fold right sides together, iron and pin all along (2 and 3). Sew not too close to the edge, always perpendicular to the pins (4). Do this for both.
Then iron the edges to open them, and form a 6 cm triangle with the 2 edges of the closed side. Pin in place (5) and sew along. Cut the top of the triangle about a centimetre from the seam (6). Do this for each piece of fabric.
Turn one of the two pieces inside out (7). Tuck the turned-over piece of fabric into the other (right sides together) and pin along the entire length, leaving an opening of about 3-4 cm that will not be sewn, so that the fabrics can be turned inside out (8).
Sew not too close to the edge, and pass the two fabrics through the opening you left to turn the basket right side out (9). You then have 2 options: either hand-sew the opening you've left, or sew along the entire length of the basket (11). You can either use a thread that blends in with the color of the fabric, or play with contrast! And finally: turn the top of the basket inside out! (12)
Voilà!!! And the best part: it's reversible!
You can use it as a tote bag, or as a planter (for fake flowers). Depending on the thickness of your fabric, it will be more or less rigid, so it's up to you to achieve the effect you want!
