To help you find your way around the explanations that follow, please feel free to look at the detailed pictures...
Materials required:
- 50 cm of coated canvas for the outside of the bag (here, anthracite coated canvas with white
dots).
- 50 cm cotton for the bag lining (here fuchsia fabric with green polka dots).
- 40 cm of fancy cotton for the inside pocket (here green fabric with small pink flowers).
- 2 m piping.
- 1.10 strap (4 cm wide).
- 1 m matching bias.
- Decorative labels to suit your taste!
Pattern pieces :
Front and back exterior (coated canvas) 35 x 32 cm
Underneath (coated canvas) 95 x 15 cm
Front and back cotton lining 35 x 32 cm
Bag bottom (cotton) 95 x 15 cm
Inside pocket (cotton) 36 x 32 cm
Step by step :
1- Cut the 7 pattern pieces.
2- Using a 12 cm-diameter container, round off :
- the bottom of the “front” and “back” pieces on the outside of the bag.
- the bottom of the “front” and “back” pieces of the lining.
- the 4 corners of the pocket coupon.
3- Preparing the outside of the bag :
- Cut the 2 m of piping in 2.
- Sew these 2 pieces to the right sides of the two “bottom” lengths of the bag, inserting decorative decorative labels. Caution: the small bead of piping of the piping must be towards the inside of the coupon and the flat part towards the outside, as shown in the photo below. (A special piping foot can facilitate this step but a zipper foot will do just as well!)...
- Place the “underside” of the bag and the outer “face” right sides together. Sew.
The piping is now between the two pieces of fabric. Do the same with the “underside” and the outer “back” of the bag.
- Cut the 1.10 lengths of webbing in 2, and attach each to the two outer folding each end over itself by about 3 cm. Make several seams to form a square and its diagonals, so that the straps are securely as shown in the diagram below:
4- Preparing the inside of the bag :
- Fold the pocket coupon in 2 to obtain a rectangle measuring 18 by 32 cm.
Iron, then sew a holding seam at the top:
- Attach the pocket to the “back” of the lining 3 mm from the edge, just to hold it in place. held in place. Make a vertical seam in the middle of the pocket to create two compartments:
- In the same way as for the outside (except for the piping), assemble the bottom
and the “front” and “back” of the bag lining.
The exterior and lining are now ready!
5- All that's left to do is turn them inside out and close the top of the bag with the
bias. Start at the back of the bag so that the bias seam is as unobtrusive as possible.
discreet as possible. Prefer bias binding in two stages for a better finish.
